​Our mission is to provide equal access and educational accommodations to students with verifiable disabilities. DSPS team members encourage students to foster independence, and assist them in attaining their educational, personal, and vocational goals. DSPS provides guidanc​e and services to students with disabilities that are designed to increase access to college instructional programs.

We are excited to have an opportunity to support your academic journey!  

Please contact us via phone, email, or in-person if you would like to schedule an appointment with a Learning Disabilities (LD) Specialist/DSPS Faculty, or are interested in learning more about our program, supports, and services.​

DSPS Supports & Services Of​fered

Our team members may support with:

  • Questions about, and use of, student computer lab (without printing)​
  • Information about sign language interpreting
  • Referrals to campus and community resources
  • Navigating Self-Service to register for courses outlined in an education plan​

The services above may be provided in our office or by telephone​​​

LD Specialists/DSPS Faculty may support with:

  • Academic or course advisement
  • Reasonable accommodations for access to classroom content and materials
  • Reasonable accommodations for classroom exams or quizzes
  • Exploring whether ​Learning Disabilities assessments may be appropriate for those without disability verification documentation such as IEPs, 504 Plans, medical diagnoses, etc.

​The services above are by appointment only​​​​

DSPS Academic Counselor available Monday-Thursday in DSPS office:

  • Provides specialized academic counseling for classes and registration assistance
  • Develops​ educational plans for certificates, associate degrees, and transfer preparation
  • Educational plans are REQUIRED for eligibility for priority registration 
  • Assists with petitions, waivers, and transcript evaluations

​The s​ervices above are by appointment only. 

Note: Drop-in appointments for quick questions available in-person or via phone on Tuesdays from 9:30am -11:30am and Wednesdays from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Availability offered on a first come, first served basis. Schedule subject to change. Please contact DSPS for availability or to schedule an appointment. 

Eligibili​​ty fo​r DSPS Services

Students who are interested in receiving services through DSPS must provide documentation of a verifiable disability in the form of a medical report, psychological report, special education records, or our provided Disability Verification for​m. DSPS reviews this disability documentation to verify that students have a condition that qualifies them for accommodation and other support services. 

Students enrolled at Santa Ana College are part of the district's mainstream population of students. Students are responsible for navigating the campus facilities either inde­pendently or with the assistance of an attendant provided by the student.

All students must adhere to the Standards of Student Conduct. For additional information, please see the online SAC Student Handbook.

Available services include but are not limited to the following:

  • Priority registration/registration assistance

  • Academic counseling

  • Learning disabilities assessment

  • Test-taking accommodations

  • Specialized instructional support

  • Assistive technology

  • Alternate media materials

  • Note-taking assistance

  • Equipment loan

  • Sign language interpreters/real-time captioning

  • Liaison with faculty, staff, and community agencies

Nondiscrimination Policy
