Program Services

The Santa Ana College Academic Talent Search Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Education. The goal of the program is to encourage and assist low-income students who have the potential to be the first generation in their family to receive a post-secondary education. We offer services to four high schools and four intermediate schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District. The schools we serve are Century, Saddleback, Santa Ana, and Valley High School, and Sierra, McFadden, Spurgeon, and Willard Intermediate. Our services are free to participant and include the following:

College Planning/Academic Advising
Career Planning and Exploration
SAT/ACT Registration Assistance
Test Registration & College Application Fee Waivers
College Application Assistance
University/College Field Trip
Cultural Presentations and Field Trips
Financial Aid and Scholarship Assistance
After School Workshops
Parent Meetings
Summer Science and Technology Program (for intermediate students)
Guest Speakers and much more

Eligibility

Must be a prospective first-generation (neither parents has graduated from college)
Come from a family that falls below the low-income guidelines adopted by the US Dept. of Education
U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or in the process of becoming a citizen or resident
Be a current student at any of the schools we service and maintain a 2.0 or above

Family Financial Aid Nights

Students will have the oppotunity to listen to guest speakers and start on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Event is held at the schools below. Check with the Higher Ed. Coodinator at the high school for more inforamtion on times and location.

01/10/2013	Edison International Scholarship	$40,000 ($10,00 a year over a four year period)	Student must be majoring in math, physics, chemistry, engineering, or computer science at a four-year college. 03/14/2013	Change a Life Foundation Orange County Scholarship	$5000	Student must attend school in an Orange County Public High School, must be enrolling in a four-year college or university in the Fall, must have a 3.5 GP, have scored a minimum of 1500 on the SAT and a 21 on the ACT, must have at least 40 hours of community services from 9th-12th grade.
