SUMMARY OF PROGRAM The Summer Science and Technology Program, which will be held at Santa Ana College, is open to all Academic Talent Search students attending our target Intermediate schools. The program is usually held the first two weeks in July.
We encourage those students with an interest in the sciences and technology to take advantage of this great opportunity. Come and learn how to create your own movie or webpage and a variety of different science experiments. Students will learn how fun demonstrations in chemistry, geology and astronomy can be. A tour of the campus and career center will provide students an opportunity to research careers related to their future goals. Listen to motivational speakers and ask questions about university admissions. Afternoons will be set aside for outdoor activities such as swimming, softball, basketball, etc. Take part in field trips to places like Corona del Mar, Museum of Tolerance, Wild Rivers, and much more!
Eligibility: -Must be a participant of the Academic Talent Search Program -Must be attending one of our Intermediate Schools (McFadden, Spurgeon, Sierra, & Willard) -Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Goals of the Summer Science & Technology Program: -Expose students to computer technology and science related fields -Motivate and encourage student interest in the career fields of computer technology and science -Introduce students to the college life experience
Activities that students will be participating in: -Students will create their own movie using easy to use technology -Participate in biology and chemistry experiments -Field trips to UCLA, Ocean Discovery Center, Wild Rivers, Corona del Mar, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, The Discovery Science Center and much more
