Parking Information

Although our campus is relatively crime free, the number one type of problem is motor vehicle related theft. Please read our advisory carefully.

Please refer to the campus map for parking assignments:

  • Student parking in lots 6 through 12.

  • Visitor parking in lots 2 and 3.

Visitor parking is 1/2 hour only. The campus map also shows where day permit dispensers are located.

While at SAC you must adhere to the following Rules and Regulations.

Parking Rules and Regulations

All parking on campus property requires possession and proper display of a valid parking permit at all times. Possession of a parking permit does not guarantee the availability of a parking space. Parking is authorized only in those areas designated for the type of permit issued. Parking must be in full accordance with the signs posted and/or these written regulations. Student permits are valid in student lots only.

Display of Permit

Permits must be displayed clearly from the rear view mirror when parking in the college parking lots. Failure to display a valid permit may result in a parking citation for the amount of $20.

Refunds

Once purchased, refunds for parking permits are made only if classes are dropped during the first two weeks.

Replacement

Replacement authorization is not granted for lost or stolen permits, except at the full purchase price. Permits may be transferred and displayed on the owner's other vehicle(s).

Citations

The Campus Safety Department receives its authority to enforce the traffic and parking regulations from the California Penal Code, the California Vehicle Code and the Municipal Court. Ignoring a citation will result in immediate legal action in the form of additional penalties and a hold being placed on your vehicle registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Citations will be issued for violation of provisions of the California Vehicle Code as well as the following special college regulations under Section 21113 C.V.C.:

1. Any vehicle parked in a regular stall shall have displayed a valid Student Parking Permit which must be displayed clearly from the rear view mirror when parking in college parking lots. Students with vehicles without permits may purchase a temporary parking permit from the permit vending machines, which requires $2.00 (subject to change) in coins or a dollar bill for an all-day parking permit good in any student lot.

2. Parking is not allowed in any area that does not have clearly marked stall.

3. Vehicles parked within a stall shall not overlap the lines that designate that stall.

4. All vehicles shall be parked heading into a parking stall.

5. Painted curbs are in indication of restricted parking and the color denotes the type of parking allowed as follows.

RED ZONE - indicates no parking or stopping anytime, whether the vehicle is attended or not.

YELLOW ZONE - indicates a fifteen- (15) minute time limit for loading and unloading vehicles. Vehicles parked in these areas must leave flashers on.

GREEN ZONE - indicates twenty- (20) minute parking as marked.

BLUE ZONE - indicates handicapped persons’ parking area only with special permit.

6. No person shall abandon, leave standing, any vehicle or motorized cycle on the campus for 72 or more consecutive hours without permission of the Campus Safety Department. Violations will result in vehicle removal and storage.

7. No person shall drive any unlicensed vehicle, nor shall any person stop, park or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, upon driveways, paths, or the grounds of campus without permission. Any unidentifiable vehicle on campus is subject to removal and storage. Exception is made for District-owned vehicles.

8. Campus Speed Limit - No vehicle other that emergency equipment shall be operated on District facilities at a speed in excess of fifteen (15) miles per hour and, where signs indicate a lesser speed, that speed will be the maximum. Violator's may be referred to the Dean of Students for possible disciplinary action.

Special Parking Areas

Visitors – Each campus has designated visitor lots which allow you to park for 30 minutes without penalty. Twenty-minute-time areas are designed with green curbs. If any visitor is going to be in a space for longer than the designated time limit, he/she should purchase a temporary parking permit from the permit vending machines which requires $2.00 (subject to change) in coins or a dollar bill for an all day parking permit good in any student lot.

Handicapped - Several areas on campus are designated for handicapped parking. Vehicles parked in these blue-lined parking stalls are required to properly display a California Handicapped placard or a current Special Handicapped Permit.

Staff Lots -  Staff members must have properly affixed on their vehicles, a  Staff Parking Permit. Staff permits are not valid in metered stalls, handicapped areas or red zones.

Motorcycles, Mopeds, Bicycles

No permit is required if parked in designated area. Use of vehicular stall requires a permit.

Appeals must be filed within 14 days of the date the ticket was issued. To appeal a parking citation, call the parking administration office between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday – Friday at 1-800-273-6488.

The following does not constitute good cause to void or dismiss citations.  Appeals based solely on these reasons will not be considered.
