​​​​Career Education Workforce Development.pngThe Career Education and Workforce Development Division works regionally to develop partnerships, programs and pathways which assist Career Technical Education (CTE) students in successfully reaching their education and employment goals. Santa Ana College's CTE programs include 35 areas of study with offerings totaling 60 degree options and 105 certificates. These CTE programs are housed in the following divisions: Business, Fine & Performing Arts, Human Services & Technology, Kinesiology & Athletics, and Science, Mathematics & Health Sciences. The Career Education and Workforce Development Division participates in various workgroups and committees, as well as manages multiple grants in order to obtain the necessary resources (equipment, software, supplies, professional development, etc) to support all CTE programs, fac​ulty and staff.

Listed below are brief descriptions of the main grants and their objectives:

  • SB1070- participate in several workgroups-- all 9 community colleges in Orange County work together on policy and procedural changes to more fully support students' successful transitions from high school to our campuses
  • Adult Education Block Grant- ​participate in the CTE Joint Advisory Committee, which seeks to create non-credit to credit pathways for adult students
  • OC Pathways-- Career Pathways Trust Round 1-- participate in both the Steering and College Partners Committees
  • NOCCAP--Career Pathways Trust Round 2-- partner with Placentia-Yorba Linda USD to create a Pharmacy Technology pathway and participate in the Executive Committee meetings
  • SA TECH--Career Pathways Trust Round 2-- partner with Santa Ana USD to create Legal Studies, Biotechnology, and Engineering pathways
  • 60% CTE Enhancement Fund-  acquiring software and equipment, as well as developing curriculum for a new Medical Devices program (which will combine the disciplines of Biotechnology, Engineering, Manufacturing and Welding)
  • 40% CTE Enhancement Fund- collaborating on 3 regional projects (Biotechnology, Global Trade & Logistics, and Advanced Manufacturing)
  • Perkins CTEA projects​- monitor project expenditures; provide funding for and process professional development conference requests; assist faculty with program development and the regional and state approval processes
  • Perkins CTE Transitions- oversee HS/ROP articulation; provide outreach to classes and career fairs; process articulated credit; develop and hold workshops to explain the articulation process and benefits to faculty, counselors and staff
  • CATEMA mini-grant- The CATEMA system is an online articulation management tool which is designed to streamline the process for students taking articulated courses while in high school to gain college credit.
  • CTE Data Unlocked- Data tools for measuring student success, supporting integrated planning, and managing accreditation and program review; 10 hours of technical assistance to support CTE data usage.
