What is TRIO?
The Federal TRiO Programs are educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes six outreach and support programs targeted to serve and assist low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post baccalaureate programs. One of those six TRIO programs on campus is the Student Support Services (SSSP).
Student Support Services Program (SSSP)
SSSP provides supplementary academic services to eligible Santa Ana College students (see Program Eligibility). The services of the program are highly personalized and the program is limited to (175) students. Applications are available year-round as space permits. The goal of TRIO-SSSP is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
